Died:
From Peter Wales who found the entry:-
The cause of death is strange in death certificate which was signed by the coroner who I would imagine would have carried out an autopsy, in view of the unusual circumstances of his death.
Even in those days you would not be expected to die from fractured ribs.
I have had a number of these, one of them a double fracture, mainly through football injuries and the hospital do not even take X rays of the injuries.
Also apart form the initial injury which is a bit painful. there is only discomfort for the next 6 weeks until they are healed.
If he died from complications as a result of the injury, why does the certificate not indicate it?
I will try to check Coroner's report/details of inquest next time I am in London but I am not very optimistic that I will find anything.
The address death occurred is 24 Tenison Street, in the area on the south bank of the Thames between Waterloo and Hungerford Bridges.
The cemetery records indicated that Moses was living in Soho, prior to his death, so probably it was a friend or relative's house and will try to check 1851 and 1861 census to find out more.

Oct 2010 - Checked 1851 census for the address where Moses died but he is not listed there - unsurprising as we have him with his wife already.
Dave SimpsonMoses married Sarah LEVY on 31 Jul 1815 in London, England. Sarah (daughter of Simon LEVY and Hannah [LEVY]) was born about 1793 in St Martin in the Fields, London, England; died on 25 Mar 1856 in St Pancras, London, England. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:
From Gerry Newnham - March 2011:
. In the 1851 Census Sarah says she was born in the parish of St Martins in the Fields.
2. Sarah's marriage record gives her patronymic as "Sara bat Simha Segal" (Harold Lewin's transcript).
3. Simha equates to Simon.
4. Searching the Rate Books in the Westminster Archives for the period from
1793 to 1813 (I have still to check later records) shows only one Simon Levy in St Martin's parish and he is living in Russell Court, off Drury Lane.
5. Simon's wife, Hannah, appears in an Old Bailey trial as a witness in 1801. The entry in the trial record reads: "HANNAH LEVY sworn. - I am the wife of Simon Levy , who keeps a house and shop in Russel court..." (sic)
6. It seems Simon LEVY was a reasonably prosperous trader and was insured with the Sun Insurance Co - details awaited.
7. The inscription on Simon LEVY's grave is:
"In memory of/Mr Simon Levy/Late of Charles St Soho Square/Obit Jany 30th AM 5587/In the sixty seventh year/Of his life" (died 30 Jan 1827)
8. In 1825 Moses JACOBS had a shop in Charles Street (now called Soho Street).

Notes:
There is potential for confusion over the records of the Sun Fire Office insurance company.
We have Henry and Philip associated with several properties both singly and jointly.
Unfortunately it is not clear whether this refers to Philip and his BROTHER Henry, or his SON Henry, or even both at different times.
The best indication that we have is that in 1819 we start to get policies as Philip Jacobs & Son.
I have therefore made the assumption that before that date it is the two brothers.
At present it suffices to identify that the Jacobs were associated with these addresses.

We know that Henry Jacobs was a Glassman practising in Petticoat Lane.
We know that his father was David Jacobs.
We believe that David Jacobs was also known as David Litzen/Letson.
In an Old Bailey trial of 1795 there is a witness Kitty Jacobs whose husband has a glass business in Petticoat Lane.
In the Great Synagogue Marriage Record transcript there is an entry for a Kitty Moses marrying a Henry Jacobs whose father is David Letson

Hebrew name is from daughter Sarah's marriage entry
From Gerry Newnham - March 2011:-
Hannah died in 1843

When he wrote his will in 1843 he had 5 freehold premises.
Interestingly in his will he names his daughter-in-law Milcha, wife of his son Lewis, with money left in trust with Henry. The implication is that Lewis may have financial troubles.
Looking at a possible wife for Philip Jacobs (1771 - 1845).
I was contacted in December 2014 by Anne Piccoli asking me whether I thought that his wife was Wilmott Gilbert as reported on two Ancestry trees.
Anne was sceptical about it, especially as the surname was 'Jacob' rather than 'Jacobs'
My conclusion is that she is right and this is not the correct marriage.
Updated information can be found at https://jacobstree.co.uk/2014/12/06/philip-jacobs/
My logic is as follows:-
Philip Jacob married Wilmott Gilbert in the parish church of St Luke, Finsbury on the 11th January 1794
This could be OK because it is not unusual for couples of mixed faith to marry in both church and synagogue
A slightly unusual item is that her signature seems to read as Rebecca rather than Wilmott?
As far as I can tell, all the children of 'our' Philip were Jewish
We believe that Philip's wife died before 1844 as she is not mentioned in his will, written 1843.
Looking through Ancestry, we find a burial for Wilmott Jacob in 1824
Whilst this would fit for our Philip's wife, we again have the surname as Jacob
What I believe is more conclusive is that Philip & Wilmott Jacob had two children baptised
1801 Thomas, son of Philip and Willmott Jacob
1803 Eliza, daughter of Philip and Willmott Jacob.
I notice that neither of the two trees on Ancestry have found these baptisms.
No single one of these points is conclusive but I feel the combination of them rules out Wilmott as the wife of our Philip.
