    Notes:

When Henry died his last address was shared with his son-in-law John Wales. Peter Wales gives us the following extra information:-

"37 Canterbury Place (at the end of the Lambeth Walk). This was the Wales family home up to the 2nd world war, birthplace of all Alice and John's children including my father. It was hit by a bomb, aimed at Waterloo Station, and completely destroyed. If you have ever seen the film passport to Pimlico, it was actually filmed on the bomb site where Canterbury Place once stood."

We know that Henry spent a number of years in Brighton from around 1858 to 1872.
This is borne out by entries in the various trrade directories for Brighton.
However, it would appear that he was originally there in a business and house belonging to David Jacobs, who is possibly his elder brother.

    Birth:
The entry in Myer Solomon's Circumcision Register fits well.
Given that it was custom to circumcise a male child about 8 days after birth, this would give us a birth date of 17th September 1831

    Census:
Berwick Street is missing from the 1841 census.
"Thank you for contacting The National Archives of the United Kingdom.
Unfortunately there is no comprehensive published or unpublished list of streets, or other place elements, missing from the census.
However, we hold some detailed street indexes for London districts, which conform that all of the returns for the Berwick Street sub-district of St James Westminster are missing from the 1841 census." - May 2016

    From Gerry Newnham (email 16-Jul-2010)
He also doesn't appear on the 1851 database as he was in Ohio/Kentucky at the time, where he married Ellen Silverstone.
However no documentation of the marriage has been found - yet!
In any case the Cincinnati records were destroyed in a fire
around 1870 and although the records have been reconstructed Henry was back in England by then so probably wasn't aware that the authorities were asking people to re-register.
