1634 | Like Gerry the only Abraham Kisch that I can find is the one in the 1841 census. His wife does have the right name and the number of Kischs is minimal (30 according to Ancestry, 24 according to FindMyPast) He has (amongst other children) a son called Simon, aged 19 In the 1851 census there is a Simon A Kisch who is a Tailor and Robe Maker http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=8860&iid=MDXHO107_1486_1487-0457&fn=Abraham+A&ln=Kisch&st=d&ssrc=&pid=2289137 This Simon also appears, as Simon Abraham Kisch in the 1848 Post Office Directory at 40 Cranbourne Street. http://search.ancestry.co.uk/browse/view.aspx?dbid=1547&iid=GB0109-00356&rc=885,2501,964,2531;1071,2506,1214,2537&pid=85549&ssrc=&fn=abraham&ln=kisch&st=g By 1861 Simon has become a Managing Clerk at a solicitors http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=8767&iid=MDXRG9_177_179-0386&fn=Simon+A&ln=Kisch&st=d&ssrc=&pid=5292459 In 1871 he has progressed to being an Attorney and Solicitor http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=7619&iid=LNDRG10_151_155-0613&fn=Simon+A&ln=Kisch&st=d&ssrc=&pid=231557 In 1881 he is still a Solicitor http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=7572&iid=LNDRG11_137_141-0321&fn=Simon+A.&ln=Kisch&st=d&ssrc=&pid=13710086 The Abraham Kisch that we are looking for was already married in 1825 when the will was written. The Abraham at the synagogue is listed as 45 in 1841 and Isabella as 42 Their eldest child is 19 so would have been born about 1822 His burial details at CemeteryScribes are at http://www.cemeteryscribes.com/getperson.php?personID=I2890&tree=Cemeteries The one big problem is that his wife is listed as Isabella Simpson. There are however doubts about the surname Simpson. It is also suggested that she is Beila bat Simhah HaLevi [Possibly Simon Levy?] On balance, I am inclined to think that there is only the one Abraham Kisch. Dave | KISCH, Abraham (I4731)
