  	Sarah was accidently poisoned by James Cox. Cox wanted to marry her but her father and brother objected. Sarah was poisoned with arsenic. Cox was charged with poisoning and attempted murder. His defence was that he intended to commit suicide through poisoning but, through one thing and another, Sarah ended up drinking the poison. Cox went and threw himself in the river, but was rescued. The jury found him not guilty, but the judge charged him with attempted suicide. From the newspaper reports we get the following information:- Sarah is the daughter of Samuel Jacobs Samuel Jacobs is a Storekeeper in Kumara Sarah Jacobs is sister of Henry Jacobs Henry Jacobs is an Express Driver Henry is also known as Harry Sarah had come to Hokitika from Kumara
