  	These divorce proceedings were abandoned. In 1903 Theresa started divorce proceedings against Sydney. At the time Theresa gave her address as 49 Church Road, Hoylake. There is one child, Robert Cecil Jacobs - born 24 June 1897 No details are given as to why the petition was abandoned and there is no response from Sydney.

This time the divorce went the full distance with the Decree Nisi being issued on 8th May 1911 and Decree Absolute on 20th November 1911. The document is a massive 407 pages long (many of which are repetitious) and for that reason a copy is not attached but the following abstract should suffice. Observations Robert Cecil Jacobs (their son) shall remain in Theresa's custody. A copy of David Jacobs' will is introduced - David was Sydney's father The facing page refers to it as "This is the copy of the will and codicil referenced to in the ??? of Sydney Jacobs." Outcomes Sydney to pay Theresa ?50 a year during her life In 1943 Theresa was granted a gross annual income of ?279 in addition to the ?50 p.a. granted in 1912

  When his marriage failed Sydney moved from Liverpool to Wallasey. ? His father David had died in 1903 and the Jacobs of Ranelagh Street clothing?business became owned and run jointly by Sydney and his younger brother Julius. ? Louis David had left the business and moved to the south east where he was involved in cigar and tobacco sales. Sydney was able to travel to work easily by train from Wallasey to Liverpool Central Station which is in Ranelagh Street. ? Sydney and Julius both retired in the late 1920s and the business was sold to Lewis's. ? Sydney enjoyed his retirement by travelling on cruise liners, particularly the Arandora Star. ? He has left a fascinating collection of photos from his various travels. Sydney lived in New Brighton in a house that comprised two apartments. ? Sydney lived in the ground floor apartment and his son Cecil and daughter-in-law Rita lived in the upstairs apartment. In May 1941 the Lewis's building in Ranelagh Street was hit by a German bomb. ?The resulting flames from the Lewis's building caused the Jacobs building also to catch fire. ?The two buildings were on opposite corners at the top of Ranelagh Street, the Jacobs building extending round the corner into Lime Street opposite the Adelphi Hotel.
