  Jacobs, Louis David - Hill, Amy There was some uncertainty about the birth registrations for these children at this time [Jan 2021] In the 1911 census [1911 Census - RG14 PN2360 RG78PN78B RD26 SD5 ED75 SN239] they say that they have had 5 children; 4 still living; 1 dead 2 of the living one's (Stanley Lewis Jacobs and Juliet Amelia Jacobs) are with them.? We know of 2 other sons (Arthur Jacobs and David Jacobs) from David's will (Clause 35) Stanley is also mentioned as is Juliet Amelia? That leaves us with one unknown child.? David & Amy also say that they have been married for 22 years, which we know is a lie because they got married in 1894. But it would be socially acceptable to bend the rules.?? My next step was to try and find the births of the children. Juliet Amelia was easy JAS 1898 Toxteth Park 8B 173 [Mother's maiden name = Hill] also Louis & Amy were married by this time.? It is with the others that we start running into either a brick wall or lies [Jacobs telling lies? Never been heard of!]? We know from the census that all 5 children must have been born before 1911. We know that the four named children must have been born before David Jacobs wrote his will in 1901 Based on his age in the 1911 census I went looking for Stanley Lewis???? c. 1891 Liverpool? Then the other brothers: Arthur David Unknown? No suitable results were found. Before this, I looked at the 1891 census and found Amy living with her parents in Everton [1901 Census - RG 13 3439? F67 P18] What struck me with this census was that there were three children within expected age ranges for the age of her parents, but there were also 2 others that were a lot younger. Arthur H Hill (age 5)? and Louis A Hill (age 1) I wouldn't normally have expected Louis as a forename name for a Christian family, but that is obviously not definite.? Now one thing I have come across quite often, especially on the Simpson side of the family, is that an unmarried daughter has had a child and it is passed off as her mother's.? Looking in the GRO the following were found:? Stanley Louis Jefferies??? Q3 1890, Liverpool Mother's maiden name Hill Arthur Henry Jefferies??? Q3 1891, Liverpool Mother's maiden name Hill David Jefferies ????????????????? Q2 1893, Liverpool Mother's maiden name Hill Sydney Edgar Jefferies??? Q3 1895, Hampstead Mother's maiden name Hill Died: Q3 1895, Hampstead? Now 3 of these forenames fit with known forenames of the ones we are looking for, and would be roughly in the expected time period. On the same principle, Sydney Edgar would fit with being the child that died.? My personal belief is that Louis David uses the pseudonym Jefferies for the purpose of registering their births. Karen Gwinnett ordered one of the birth certificates, David 1893, to see if it helped at all. Bingo! It fitted all the criteria (apart from Jacobs).
