Abraham Jacobs
I thought I had evidence that Abraham was the father of Henry and John- I am sure I have seen it somewhere?[Phil Kirby]
All I can find in the GS records is an Abraham Jacobs married to Alice Ellis father of Abraham is yissachar. In the 1851 census there is an Abraham Jacobs with Henry and John born in 1791 to old I think for David as he would have born 60 and already senile.
He is with a Alice Abrahams not Alice Jacobs, who is down as his sister.
Again there is no mention of a Alice Jacobs marrying a Abraham in the GS Records.
All David’s children and I think Philip’s married in the GS or at least the NS. The boys were only in the 20s in the 1851 which prob. meant Abraham married in the early 1820s.
There is also no mention in the NS that I can translate either for Abraham. I would be loath to surmise that he is Philip’s son without real prove, I know he was a glass dealer in the same area but he could be a cousin or just another Jacobs. [Debbie Bozkurt]
I have no record of Abraham or Alice being children of David Jacobs. Like Debs has said, if Abraham was a son, why was he not mentioned in Phillips Will? Also has anyone seen synagogue records for these two?[Peter Wales]
Found this in the NS marriage records: Abraham b. Uri Feiss Partir in 1818 m Hannah bat Mr ae’er Wolf I think Uri Feiss means Philip but don’t know what Partir means or wheither or just someone else. Abraham paid £2 to marry. Just found Abraham again with Alica Jacobs this time with Henry and John. Also Alica/Alice is marked down as not born in Middlesex. Alice is not one of ‘our’ Jacobs name either I don’t think so anyway. All very strange, can’t see Henry or John on the NS births either. I think more work needs to be done on Abraham before we can claim him.
